What are small groups like?

While each small group develops its own unique shape, culture, and flavor, all groups are united by Riverwalk’s mission, vision, and values, and are built on four essential “legs,” like a table, that give stability and strength:

  • We are committed to spending consistent time together with the same group of people, creating a rhythm of meeting, sharing, and growing in Christ.

  • We share life with one another, practicing the “one anothers” of Scripture through prayer, encouragement, and care. Small groups provide a space to belong and walk alongside one another in faith and in daily life.

  • Trust is built over time as members feel loved, safe, heard, and known—even in seasons of doubt or difficulty. Leaders help create a safe structure where vulnerability and honesty are welcomed.

  • Discipleship is at the heart of small groups: learning to live and love like Jesus wherever we are and wherever we go. Transformation happens as we share God’s Word, reflect on His work in our lives, and support one another in applying it. Everyone participates in learning and growing together—there is no single “expert,” only a shared journey.
