OUR STORY

Riverwalk started out in 2008 as a church plant called Highrock Brookline, part of the Highrock Network of Churches. Highrock itself began in 1999 around a dinner table. A small group of believers shared a dream for a church where people of all backgrounds, ages, and ethnicities could encounter Jesus. In time, this small group became a congregation, outgrowing several spaces in Cambridge and Somerville and finally setting down roots in Arlington, but with a vision for planting healthy, vibrant, locally-focused congregations throughout the Greater Boston area.

In 2008, Highrock Brookline was planted with the shared vision of “transformation through connecting with God Personally, God's People, and God's Purposes.” In 2022, the Highrock Network of Churches mutually decided to dissolve as a network, allowing each of the planted congregations the freedom to differentiate themselves in mission and ministry in order to faithfully serve the Lord and love their neighbors in our particular contexts. We then entered a time of congregational discernment regarding the direction God was calling us. In 2023, our members formally voted to change our name to Riverwalk Church.
